Iv'e been wondering if other people have had simular expereinces as me while growing up. I'm I guy and when I was about 10 years old I used to watch my mother set her hair. We were talking about her hair one day and how she set it and she- I had hair doown to my shoulders at the time- suggested I try doing my hair like she did and volunteered to show me how to do it. I was a little embaresed at first, but I thought it was really neat and wanted to have that full look with a flip. So she did it. She put my hair up in medium sized rollers and then I sat under the dryer. I loved the way it turned out!! Since then Iv'e been using rollers off and on to do my hair.

I had a similar set of experiences when I was young and as I grew up. My mother set my hair "just for fun" several times using brush rollers, then an older female cousin also did it several times. I even started going with my mother to her hairdresser every week when I was in grade 8 and 9. In college my girlfriend loved doing my hair (see some samples on Victor's "Styles" page). Lots of other more recent hairdo's and sets are captured in pics on J.J.'s Rollerama site:

I just sent him about 8 new ones soon to be added. I have also written quite a few CD fiction books for Sandy Thomas where my hero/heroine always gets the most feminine of hairdo's. I love hearing from other's who enjoy the same experiences.

I was wondering how to find Victors styles on rollerama. Iv'e looked on rollerama and haven't found them. Am I overlooking something? Also, when you were younger and your mother took you to the beauty salon, did they set your hair, and what did people think?

Victor's site and Rollerama (my site) are two different outposts in cyberspace. I don't think we share any photos in common.

Actually, my own experience was a bit different: my mother didn't invite me to have my hair rolled, she forced me: when I was about 14 and first had long hair she said 'If you're going to have long hair, you'll have to wear it like a girl.' So she marched me off to her hairdresser and I had my first roller set in a beauty salon full of women. After that I had to sleep in curlers most nights. When I reached high school my girlfriend began rolling it on hot rollers. We were on the drill team together, and for games she would roll it in big curls or put it up in ponytail with a ribbon. I became accustomed to being mistaken for a girl.
Nowadays my wife rolls my hair fairly regularly when we're going out, and when I go in for a trim my hairdresser usually sets it on velcro rollers. I find that it's more and more acceptable--I hardly get a second glance these days while sitting under the drier with my hair in big curlers.
