: "Honest, moral, mainstream working stiffs" are boring, so maybe they're a bit tough to find on TV in general, but there are some shows that portray us in a positive light. Shows that show longhairs positively tend to be in three categories:

  1. Another place, another time. Hercules and Xena stuff, and Dr. Quinn.
  2. Guys on the fringe. Renegade and Highlander.
  3. Teenagers/youth. Seventh Heaven.
But I think you're right. Portrayal of working age longhairs in a positive mainstream role in a present-day scene is as rare as hen's teeth. That's a shame, because it marginalizes us in the public's eye, and it deprives us of public role models. For people to be acceptable role models they need to be living in our time, in our society, doing things we'd ourselves desire to do.

I thought that Highlander would be under Another place, another time, because Duncan was Born on December 21, 1592, in Scotland!
