It Wouldn't Hurt To Have Wings

So I'm in week 10 of growing my hair out--which is about six weeks longer than I've gone without a haircut since the early ’90s. The intent's not to get it as long as many of you, but to get it at least down to the collar and curling in below the ears; with enough length so that it looks long from the front view, and enough so that I can feel it flopping behind me when I exercise.Given my barbers' tendency to round off the back, I've never really been able to achieve that before. Even when I tried short on top/long in back in the early ’90s, it never had the mullet effect--for which I guess I'm now thankful.
Having been very heavily tapered on the sides before, I'm finding that A) my hair is just touching the tops of the ears now; B) Depending on how I comb it, I can actually get some pretty major wing action (although I can still grease it down or tuck it behind the ears, too). To my surprise, I'm kinda liking my hair swooping across the forehead and off to the sides. It's not how I'd want it long term, or every day, but it's an interesting late ‘70s/early ’80s look and it's helping me achieve the larger goal of getting to see something different in the mirror every now and then.
So maybe the secret of the dreaded in-between period is to try and find some way to have some fun with what you've got, until you achieve what you want.

Back in the 80's I had wings/feathers cut with my waist-lenght hair. I really liked it and wore it that way for several years. At the longest it was butt-lenght with wings. Sorry the self-taken photo was out of focus--maybe I can find a better one. So, keep the wings and enjoy it!

How do you create a self-portrait from that angle? Or was the camera on a tripod?

Yes-a tripod and a (long) cable-release. Back in the days before cameras with remotes! (An old Minolta SRT-100, as I recall...)

Hey, you remember those old-fashioned squeeze bulbs?
