Now I have short hair and I want to have long hair. Can somebody tell me how long it will take to have long hair to my shoulders. Which advice you can give me? How many times I have to go the Barber shop.
It would be the first time in my live to grow out my hair.
I have to go for it?

I had short hair some times in my life. The hair grows on different parts of the head, after one year all the different parts harmonized together and the hair looked like to have reached shoulder length.
It was not really short at the beginning, maybe 5 cm, after 1 years growing the individual hair length was about 20 cm. (The usual hair growing rate is about 1 cm a month, 1 inch = 2.54 cm, about 5 inches a year).
I heard there exist rest periods, where the hair doesn't grow. I think it can be true. After 1 and 1/2 years growing it seemed to grow very slowly.
There also exist a maximum length, the hair can not grow longer. After scientifics results it's determined by genetics. I heard from another board that the hair refused to go longer over a period of more then 10 - 20 years (in individual cases).
If you want to get healthy hair you have to take care about split ends. I look after them with a magnifying glass. I think this split ends have to be cut off (maybe microtrims about 1/2 inch at a time, from women I heard that trims may occur every three months but I also heard from very long haired women that they only had trims once or twice a year). This split ends can grow and as a consequence they can destroy the beauty of your hair, but if you have a trim you have to take care that not too much hair will be cut off, hair grows only 1 cm a month.

I dont wanna be a nit picker but it would be 1.27 cm a month, which over a period of a few years would make a significant difference. Just wanted to clear it up.
1/2 an inch, or 1.27 cm a month

One way to deal with split ends other than trimming is to use a good conditioner after every washing. I've noticed that the "natural" conditioners work best: I use ones that do not have sodium laurel sulfate, or sodium lauryl sulfate, etc. As a consequence, my hair loss has slowed, and the graying, too. The brand I prefer is Avalon Natural Products Rosemary Shampoo. Rosemary is an age-old herbal stimulant for hair growth. Does it work? I am not sure at this stage, only time will tell.
