What to do?

I have been growing my hair for about 10 1/2 months. My hair is very wavy and semi-curly. It is about 6 inches long all around now, but it looks less because of the curl. It's not quite long enough to pull into a nice pony-tail yet. I have been simply combing it straight back and letting it dry. It's very healthy and dosen't rat or anything. I can always run a comb through it without any pain or hassle. However, it has a lot of body and I've never seen anyones hair who, when as long as mine, looks like this. Sometimes I part it in the middle, but if I do that it looks really horrible when it drys. How do you guys reccomend I comb it for now. Also, I want to keep growing it untill it is down past my shoulder blades. I figure it will take me about another 2 years of growing. When, and if, it ever gets that long will all of its body make it look bad? What do you guys think?

Thanks
