Hair extensions

Has anyone had any success with hair extensions. My hair is shoulder length and I want it to be waist length. I am impatient and was wondering about hair extensions. My girl friend has suggested them but several other women I know say they cause hair damage and the hiar I have will have to be cut once I decided to take them out. Since they are not cheap, I wanted some other info before really doing this.

George, I've had hair extensions, on and off now for about 8 years,
and I think as long as you get good quality extensions then you shouldn't have any problems.
To get the length you want(waist length) you'll probably have to get synthetic hair, as real hair usually only comes in a maximum length of 26", synthetic hair you can get longer! I don't know what the longest length is, but I've had it long enough to sit on, about 38" and I think you can get it longer!
Also the modern synthetic hair is very good.
The best ones I think are the ones that are braided near the scalp and sealed with a heat gun, these blend in very well with your own hair and are undetectable, unless you run your fingers over the seal.
When you remove the extensions, usually after 8 to 10 weeks, you don't need to have your hair cut! I normally just have some more!!
Hope this helps, and if you go ahead, let us know how you go on.
