Please don't make new threads to post replies to other posts (especially when they're off-topic) or use all caps. Keeps the forums neat and civil.
Thanks,

The Popular music is almost always lame, at any time period.
Winger was lame back in the day, and nowadays we got the Backstreet Boys. You gotta dig to find good music both then and now, but good music existed/exists both then and now.

But the ratio of good/bad music has been thrown way off...

I disagree. However I am 17. When I am older I may not like the new stuff the kids are into and they will call my music lame. Happens every generation, just the natural order of things.

I, too, am 17 (not for long), just for the record. To each his own, but I personally think most of today's music is... crap. The 60's, 70's and early 80's produced a slew of classics that have survived the test of time (who will forget rockin' songs such as Smoke on the Water or deeper stuff like Stairway to Heaven?) and will always remain ingrained in the minds of true rock lovers. I believe good music to be generation-less.
The majority of today's chart toppers will fade away and largely be forgotten when their time is up. Those that don't will join the ranks of the rock legends of yesteryear. Most good bands of the "golden age of rock" have fallen apart in one way or another due to the irresistable forces of greed and/or degredational effects of their excessive use of drugs and alcohol, but their work lives on.

Majority of everydays chart toppers fade away and largely become forgotten. There will of course be some new editions from this time into the "legends" catergory. Then they will eventually fall apart 20 years from now or so and we'll have more lame programming on VH1 Where Are They Now, where its the same story of substance abuse, affairs, divorce, and tragedies. >YawN< Too bad history repeats itself.
Sorry to bore everyone with several posts waaaaay off topic. Keep it Long =)
