top-back of the head hurts

I hope this isn't a sign of balding but a few days after I apply some shampoo and conditioner to my hair, the top-back of my head hurts for one day. Keep in mind that I do wear a hat during those days and I stuff my small ponytail in the back of the hat to keep it from going crazy.

Hey! I was getting ready to post on scalp pain. One of my culprits involves neck muscle tension, but I was going to ask about others experience.
I figure the weight of my hair, including CONDITIONER BUILDUP related to hard water is another problem. (My hair barely lathers where I live, but foams up like bozo at my cousins 70 miles away.)
The pain is usually around the crown or sometimes forward of that for me. Disturbing.
I don't think regular male pattern baldness causes any pain normally.
Good luck solving this.
