Usage Of Mousse

Hi everybody. I have recently found this website and I love it. Many of my questions were answered here. But I still have a couple more. My hair is about 9 months old. I had gotten it cut very short before and I hated it so much I decided to grow it out. I am at a really bad stage right now. My hair is really wavy so it gets really fizzy and tangly. I look like I had just walked out of the 70's. LOL. That's what I need help on. What should I put on my hair to control the frizz and tangles? I have begun to use mousse but someone told me that the usage of mousse will cause hair to fall out because it blockes pores on the scalp. Is that really true? If not, what is the best way to put mousse on. And how much longer will it be until I no longer need mousse and the frizzness will stop? I really appreciate your help. Thank you.
