Am I to old ????

At 46 with a modest head of hair ( 2inches at its longest) ...no high spots / receeding yet, can can I fend off jibes of "he is going through the mid life crisis" etc.
Also any advice ( all gratefully recieved ) on growing it out whilst working in a very, very conservative enviroment !!
