Cutting off my hair

I have pretty healthy straight hair, but it's kind of thick, I've kept it at shoulder length for 2 years, it looks alright but it's never going to look neat, especially at the bottom and at the back. I've tried thinning it out and undercut but didn't work, and I'm not going to apply 2kg of gel everyday and make it look wet to reduce the volumn. I'm sick of it and well I guess I'm gonna cut it short. but I love the feeling of hair hanging in my face so I just wanted to ask if you guys have any suggestions on a style that looks neat (sort of business/musician type) for straight thick hair and at the same time lets me have hair brush in front of my eyes.

Hi,
Well, I guess you could try the "bob" style, that is, about chin length at the back, and just below ear length pretty much all the way round, including the fringe. That way, it is a lot easier to maintain and it still "looks" long. I am about at this level now and am so far very pleased with it. You could also have the bangs at eye length or nose length depending on your preference.

is that the style the singer in GOOGOO Dolls have? that looks pretty good. I used to be at that length but didn't like it too much but that could be because it was all at the same level, might help if I get it jagged edged.
