Head vs Facial Hair

This might seem like a silly question, but where abouts does the hair around your ear transition into the coarser hair of your beard? Is there any easy way to tell by looking?

I'd say the transition is a very gradual one, but is essentially complete just above the level of the earlobe. Note that in this transition region most of us have hair that will not grow as rapidly or as long as either in the rest of the scalp or the lower parts of the beard.
Now, may I ask why this fact is of special importance?

It's just something I've always wondered about.

Go find an 8 year old kid with a buzz cut or bowl cut, that doesn't have his sides totally shaved off, the dumbest looking thing ever for any age (unless you have a shaved head, I'll allow that.) Thats is where the head hair ends.
