Ponytail Position

Hi,
I was wondering if some people could give me tips on how low I should tie my hair in a ponytail. Of course, if I do it too high I look girlish and I don't like that, but if I keep it too low then it also looks weird. Where do people usually tie it? For example, if you're looking at a guy from the side, should the hair be tied between the nose and chin, at the chin, or below the chin?
Also, at what level (again, you could reference by position of chin, mouth, nose) should the lowest hair be that goes into the ponytail? I have some hair below the level of the lowest hair that goes into my ponytail, and I have to keep shaving it so I look OK, but now I'm thinking I should try growing it out too, although I'm not sure if it will get long or not. Right now the lowest hair that goes into my ponytail is at the level between my nose and chin, at about the level of my mouth.

Just tie the darn thing wherever and however it feels the most comfortable for you :-)
