Growth Progress

Here is a recent photo. If you remember about 1 year ago I had mistakely gotten a high undercut from a different stylist than I regularly see...dumb on my part.
My regular stylist (who I drive over 1 hour to see) convince me to be patient...that he did not want to see me lose all the length I had grown.
I'm really happy with my hair now and plan on growing it to terminal length. My next problem will be getting a job as I am currenty unemployed...my decision...but will have to enter the job market again. I know I will not cut my hair if asked, but being 46 years old I may find it a bit tough finding employment with a company that is long hair freindly.
I gone this far getting through the bad hair phase (both natural and due to my stupidity)...I'm not turning back now.
PS. If anyone is interested, I have a web site devoted to the loinclothed male.

Thoughts as you re-enter the job market...
It would probably look best if you pulled it back into a ponytail. Most good employers will get an impression from the front of the head. The cleaner the sides look from the front, the better (this was the trade-off for me - besides, I agreed with them).
Depending on the kind job you are looking for, the facial hair may be more of a question than the head hair. It's your decision, but "clean cut" can sometimes make the difference.
Good luck.

Hi.
Excuse me, but as far as I know, as long as you don't let it grow wild , beard isn't considered something unusual(unlike long hair).

this may vary from place to place (and with the age of the people you're dealing with) but my own parents as well as most of the rest of my relatives (and other "set-in-their-ways" older adults) in my area) generally seem to view facial hair as being just as "bad" as long hair. Their reaction varies with the style of facial hair - apparently goatees are the worst (?) - but they nearly always have some derogatory comment to make. On the other hand, some people - like myself - happen to find facial hair (and of course, long hair) very attractive.
Long hair over 40

You look great, man!
We older longhairs get hassled about our hair in society a lot less than do younger longhairs. Whatever it is that works in the psyche of some people to dislike longhairs seems to operate primarily against "young men". This may well lie in Raj Singh's hypothesis that longhairs freak people out because they are seen as unconquered warriors and thus as a threat. Raj goes on to say that women are almost never hassled about long hair because women are mostly not perceived as a physical threat. Just maybe, we older longhairs, as men past an age where the Army is interested in us, don't stir up the fear. :-)
In a workplace, though, older people of all hair lengths suffer some discrimination. If you get the cold shoulder, they're not likely to tell you the reason. If they do give you one, it will possibly be the "hair" one because the "age" one, and lots of other ones they might have, are illegal. We've see the hair reason used too many times before and then learned the longhair got fired for another reason (the real reason) after cutting his hair. So I wouldn't take any anti-hair comments too seriously if you get them.
