jewish curls...

ok- for lack of a better word...i have a bit of hair that resembles all the steriotypes i have ever seen of Jewish rabbi's. i hope this doesnt offend anyone saying this- i dont know what else to call them...
anyway, the hair that forms them grows from just above my ears and is about 6 inches long now...only thing is when i comb all my other hair back wih my fingers, these annoying bits curl around over the fronts of my ears, sometimes poking right into the canals! sometimes they just look like funny hoop earrings.
my hair everwhere else is slightly waved and it is dark honey colored. bangs are just past chin when pulled ;) about 8.5 inches id say. i was wondering if i should just chop these slow growing curls off, as they are gneerally annoying. or- will tehy grow out to resemble my normal hair ever? or will they just keep on spiraling down?
thanks for any advice...

First, you have to realise that you are faced with an aesthetic, cultural, and perhaps Spiritual dilemma with your hair, as any man has had at least sometime in his life. The important thing is to consider what you want to "present" and perhaps too where you want to "fit in". A new cut should not be so radical that it blows you off the map with your people. A feeling of LIBERATION is the mark of a good HAIRCUT, not condemnation to some other kind of stricture.

Dude, If you cut the curls they will just grow back to the same awkward stage and poke you in the ears again. If you are aiming for a ponytail or longer let them grow long enough to be bound in back. In the mean while pin the curling lock back with a bobby pin or two per side. Bobby pins are meant to be unnoticable and wont look as femine as a small barrette or clip.
I hope this helps,
