Haircuts and Growth

The other day my mom said I should get my haircut "you'll be surprised how much faster it will grow" she said. I know that doesn't make a difference. I let her trick me last year and that's why I'm still in the arkward stage. Why do so many people believe this???? By the way she doesn't like my hair anyway but I don't care because I do.

If you keep getting it trimmed then it won't get longer in the end, period... She is sort of right though. It only appears to grow faster the shorter the hair is. For example
if you hair's 2 inches and over four months it will grow an extra 2 inches, double length. Seems like a lot.
but let's say it's 6 inches. In 4 months it will still grow 2. and that's not double length, it's 33% longer.
It's a mathematical phenomenon really. Bottom line is though, if you want it to get longer, don't get it cut.
