Regrets

Has anyone ever cut their long hair short and then had regrets about it? I almost cut my hair a year and a half ago, but I decided not to do it. The thought of it still haunts me today. I know about the 2 week rule, but I still almost cut my hair. I just wish I could get through a day without thinking about a decision that I almost made. Any ideals how to get on with life, and not think about it?
Thanks,
Darrin

Well, it was worse for me. I had chin length hair and i did not just thought about cutting it, i actually did it. And i did this TWICE ): But anyway, of course occasionaly everyone will think about that, how would i look like with short hair, i think it is pretty normal, just be careful not to do something that you would regret the minute after you did it. I regret the moment i cut my hair, i wish that like you, i just had thought about it and haven't done it. But alas, what's done it's done, now i just have to be patient.
Good luck to you

Thanks for all of your support and responses! I did cut it from mid-back to below shoulders. I didn't cut it completely short. You are right it would have grown back. Your hair will grow back also. It just disturbs me that I almost cut it, plus I don't know exactly why.
Maybe I thought I wanted a change, maybe it was pressure from others. I really don't know. I have had long hair for 10 years.
Good luck!

I understand how you feel. Really. It is easy for people to say
"Oh, try cutting it for a change. It will grow back" Sure, it just takes 5 or 6 years of your life to get back to where you really like
it!

I had somewhat long hair many years ago, but when I decided to get it cut I was ready for the change. I did not regret it at all.
You mentioned that you had thought about cutting your hair, but you didn't go through with it. No damage done! Why do you agonize over the mere thought of what might have been? Do you still think about getting a haircut, and that's why the haircut that almost was still "haunts" you? I don't quite understand.
As to how to get on with life? Just realize that life is NOT your hair! Your hair is NOT life! Whether you had cut your hair or not (which you didn't), life goes on!

What were the conditions under which you almost got a haircut? Were you literally in the barber's chair, with the razor an inch from your head, when you alluva sudden screamed "No! No! No! No! No! No! No!" or something while flailing like a chicken about to be slaughtered?
I guess that'd be more tramatic than just having thought about it and finally thinking the better...without having made a trip to the barbershop.

Darrin,
Go back and read what you posted. You A*L*M*O*S*T cut your long hair 18 [eighteen] months ago, but you did NOT cut it. And now, a year and a half later you're still obsessing about it and wondering "how to get on with life"?
I suggest you buy a newspaper, the most recent TIME magazine and tune into CNN. If thinking [even a little bit] about the events of the last two weeks doesn't "snap" you back into life then I'm afreaid you are doomed to spend enternity reliving that very moment that you almost cut your hair.

With the truly horrific events of the past 16 days, this post does sound quite trivial. However, this must be quite traumatic in his mind (the thought that he almost had his hair cut). Perhaps Darrin is an obsessive type person. Perhaps counseling is in order? I really don't know; I'm just throwing this out there for thought.
