A couple of questions...

I have always wanted long hair myself, but was always self-conscious about it. I had a sort of long mullet back in the late 80s that I wore in a pony tail, but never let it all grow out.
Now that I am in my late 30s, and my hair is starting to thin, I am realizing that I will not be able to reach my goal of being naturally long haired.
One of the things I have been considering is to continue to shave my head bald, and get a wig for when I want long hair.
OK, so now here are the questions.
For those of you who like long haired guys and are long hairs yourselves, what would you think of someone who wore a long haired wig?
Would this be a turn off for you?
If I go ahead and do it, I would be upfront about it.
Any suggestions, ideas, support would be appreciated.

I would prefer the long hair, even if it is starting to thin. I happen to like long hair even on guys with receding hairlines, though I realize this is not a common opinion.

: I have been wearing long and very long haired wigs for years as I am 44 and am not able to grow my hair long any more. I love wearing them and have had very few people bothered by it. Occassionly you get comments. My advise is do not buy cheap and I buy 2 identical wigs so I can have 1 cleaned while I am wearing the other. GOOd Luck!

Wig Info

I am a theatrical wigmaker and can offer some info about wigs.
I suggest not thinking of a wig as being a "men'" wig or a "woman" wig.
Look at length, color and texture that is right for you. Definately get a nice human hair wig
because it will reflect light and move like a real head of hair. Synthetic hair, especially on a man,
will look fake, fake, fake.
You could buy a good human hair wig that is pretty basic for around $100. It will need to
be thinned. You would need to find a style than
conceals most of the hairline, such as bangs or layering. I strongly suggest buying a
hand-tied wig, rather than a wefted wig.
You do have one advantage in that you are not trying to hide any hair in the wig. That
makes wigging tricky. Your never going to be able to pull off an all one length style, pulled back in a
ponytail without it looking suspicous. The lack of a hairline will give you away. However, curly and wavy wigs tend to look more natural that straight hair.
I use this mail order company often for wigs:
http://www.hisandher.com/
Their men's wigs are not so good, but look at the general wigs without gender notions. Try to ignore the wig blocks with faces or even the styles featured on a wig in a catalog. Look at the length and texure only. The
"Wavy Long" wig in the Wig section is a basic, hand tied human hair wig that when
thinned and given some attention could work on a man.
Good Luck
