If you're in the US or Canada, this stuff may do the trick. It's called "De-Solv-It". I have a spray bottle of the stuff and it's incredible what it can do without being hazardous to humans.
It's available in home center stores (Home Depot, for one) and big hardware stores, and it's a citrus-based solvent that is very gentle on skin, hair, etc.
A major hair replacement company gives it to their clients to use to remove adhesive and glue from the bottoms of their hair units and from their scalp, so it's a known quantity in terms of being safe for skin and hair. Try it on a small spot first to be sure.
Good luck, hope this helps.
