regarding being harrassed for long hair, just maintain that you adhere to the principles of the religion that SAMSON belonged to,namely nazaritte.the US SUPREME COURT has ruled you need not be a card carrying member of a religion to adhere to the principles of that religion, and thus you are protected under among other acts, the civil rights act of 1964, where discrimination due to religous beliefs will not be tolerated, and you may sue your employer, or local nazi cop etc. for harrassing you for someyhing as mundane as your hair lenght. make some money by sueing as well as standing up for your american rights.thomas jefferson would be proud of you!!.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to look at the requirements placed an a Nazarite beyond not cutting the hair.
Also: a Nazarite was not a member of a separate religion, they were Jewish. They became a Nazarite when they promised to devote themselves to God in a special way for a period of time. Samson was somewhat unique in that his parents dedicated him as a Nazarite shortly after birth and for life.

Those further requirements would be to abstain from alcohol and to not touch any dead bodies.

Almost Correct. The requirement regarding the dead was very similar to that placed upon the high priest. As a result, they should not go NEAR a dead body (even that of their mother or father).
As to the hair, this may have been the root of the word Nazirite (nazir = unpruned vine). Do note that even a *TRIM* would be considered a violation of the oath. At the end of the oath, the hair would be cut and burned on the altar.
