5 months today (tuesday)

Well, I simply feel this is mandatory, 5 months is something to count, May 23rd was my last haircut, and the only blade that has touched my hair was from my mother's scissors that cutted 1/2 an inch from the back some months ago. Currently when my curly hair is somewhat straight because of a gel or cream, it covers my ears, and I'm getting good lenght overall (between 3 and 5 inches, most is like 4). I've been taking some biotin. I started from a short cut, no more than 1/2 inch almost overall. So I guess I'm growing out fast. I've posted here before, anyway I'll say I'm letting my afro grow until I can't bear it, and then I'll relax. I'm shooting for shoulderblade length, but with some big family opposition. I'd appreciate comments and suggestions. Keep growing!

You might not want to get your hair relaxed. For curly hair all you need is to go to a salon and get it blowdried. After they blow it out they run a flat iron through it. It'll be very straight and will last until you shampoo or rinse with water. It doesn't look stiff like relaxed hair and you can always go back to curly whenever you like. Most girls seem to perfer curly;).
here's some sites that might help you out...
http://www.naturallycurly.com/
Best site for curlyheads. Go to the top menu, click on culrtalk, then click on general discussion about curly hair for product suggestions.
http://www.naturallycurly.com/Hairtypes/hairtypes.html
this will help you determine your hair type. If you ask the people on the board to suggest products they need to know your hair type first.
http://www.bbahneycomm.com/longhairlovers/
this site has good discussion boards. Also since your into vitamins click on the getting started link on the top of the site. Then click on "what vitamins should I take". Biotin is great for hair but you shouls take zinc with is for faster results.

Quidad products are made for curly hair. The Deep Treatment is expensive but it will lossen up your curls without chemicals and help keep it healthy. The balancing rinse is good too. Unless you l ive in New York or LA you have to order her stuff online, over the phone or mail order.

Again these brushes are expensive but there worth it. You prolly won't beleave me unless you get one. The Detangeler and the Popular Mixture are best for curly hair.

Good online store. They sell Mason Pearson combs/brushes and sell almost all the salon proucts.
