Your length when you made a ponytail?

I'm interested in how long others had it when they finally decided to tie it back in a ponytail... Because I'm thinking of doing the same myself soon.
I think mine would look something like Wesley's small ponytail in the movie The Princess Bride.

That's a great start. Don't worry about how short it is, rejoice that it is (finally) long enough to create a tail. From here on it gets nothing but better. Soon you'll go from Wesley to Inigo Montoya!
Pulling your hair back into a ponytail helps keep it under some manner of control (you're probably still in the dreaded awkward stage). You can start tucking the errant side hairs under the ones you have pulled back, until they all can come into the wrap.
Keep growin'.

For me it took about 1 year to get it past the awkward stage and be able to tie a useful ponytail ( one that held most of my hair). Because my work requires me to be in a suite and tie but also to be outside a lot of the time it was imperative that my hair be undr control which made the awkward stage a major pain. It was such a relief to be able to just pull it back and tie it with just a little gel to control the shorter hairs--so quick and easy! My pontyail is about 6" now and it gets better to work with and better looking with time. I guess my hair was maybe an inch or two below my ears when I started doing the ponytail.
