That's absolutely ridiculous, everyone knows that the hair fairy only comes on one day of the year, and that's when you trim! I swear you are evil for trying to give false hope to these innocent people. Hmmm, where's my meds?

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot the hair fairy. She comes only in odd years though. On February 29.

:I did. It's my opinion that the boy looked better before he got a haircut, even though he still had a mullet after the haircut. Irregardless, it's good to see a boy in longish hair for a change!!!!

: I believe that the consensus on this board is not to cut your hair at all. But if the style you are eventually planning on achieving is having all your hair hanging at least at shoulder length, then wait until your bangs (all your hair in front, brushed over your eyes) are at least shoulder length. That way you can (dare I say it?) trim the back so that it is even with the sides and front.
I hope this is of help to you.

Depends on what you are comfortable with.
Not every long-haired guy has to be a zealot like some on this board.
Cutting it while trying to "grow out" a short (in parts) hair cut WILL extend the awkward phase. It may also (as with me) keep the hair neat and un-awkward, assuming you actually communicate with the stylist and they respect your desires.
I chose to keep cutting the bottom part of the back until the front came within an inch or two. Now I am just letting it grow, until about shoulder length, then maintaining that length.
