What to do about curls

For the most part I have extremely thick hair that's mostly wavy but at the ends of my hair it sort of curls up. Is there anything to do to get rid of these curls because I'm letting my hair grow long, or will they go away when my hair is longer?

Amigo Mio,
There is not much you can do about your curls. Straightening hair will weaken it. Get the help of a good professional and learn to enjoy what you have.
It all depends on how tight your curls are and how thick your hair is.
I havce curly hair, and always wanted it to be straight so I could grow it really long and wear it lick Veronia Lake, or one of the Beatles.
However, accepting my curly hair, I have found two solutions that I like.
I go to a hair styling salon and have it set on large rollers. Setting hair on large rollers has the paradoxical effect of straightening it.
Alternatively, I use a good gop of jell and comb it straight and stay at home till it drys. Then I comb it out. Depending on the way I comb it, it falls into waves or remains more or less straight.
I used to want really long hair, and learned that the only way to achieve my desired effect was to set it, and this was not convenient every day.
I have settled for an 8" length, and do both of the above, depending on my schedule. If you do not know how to set your hair, a good stylist can teach you. When I have my hair done professional, I tell the stylist to use big rollers except on the very front where I like it to fall forward in curles, and on the lower back of my head, where I like the tighter curls, with a straighter, smoother effect elsewhere.
Good Luck, and keep experimenting.

The left half of my front bangs used to have these nasty looking curly, 90 degree flips on the ends. A hair relaxing at a salon got rid of the little bastards right away and they haven't come back since.
