Hair over the ears.

I have started to grow my hair for couples months or so. It looks really crazy. The hair on top of my ears is growing outwardm. Same thing on the back. I have to wear a cap, So I dont look like a junkie. The hair does look like it has a frizz and dryness. Should I get it a little trimmed on top of my ears, so it doesnt look crazy or so? Any tips on the dryness and frizz problem would be helpful.
Thanks.

Ah, you have entered the dreaded awkward stage. Some things that might help during this time. Wash your hair only once per week or so, so that the natural oils will help to tame your frizzies. Use conditioner after shampooing and during cool water rinses in between shampoos. Use only cool water to avoid stripping out too much oil. Use gel to help control stand ups and fly aways. Some suggest Paul Mitchel foaming pomade as an alternative to gel. Caps and hats can be worn where appropriate.
Did you notice something? Nowhere did cutting or trimming appear. That will only serve to shorten your hair and prolong the awkward stage. Trimming is the way to make short hair neater. It does nothing to make long hair neater. It just makes it shorter.
I strongly suggest that you read Bill's excellent treatise on being a longhair at http://www.choisser.com/longhair/, also linked below.
