conditioner/very dry hair

Can someone tell me of a good conditioner for extremely dry and a bit "puffy" hair, try to keep it in the more famous brands b/c that is what most of the store's around here carry. I heard of an Aussie conditioner (is that what it was called?) but I looked everywhere and nobody had it so that is why I ask that you don't recommend anything like that. Oh and I had 1 more question, I am only using shampoo once a week, but when i do use it does that pretty much ruin the purpose of not using it the rest of the week? should i not use it at all (my hair is THAT dry, i once went two weeks without shampooing and it didn't feel oily at all) or should I just keep shampooing every week?
