Starting (A Little Beyond Starting)

Glad I found this site. It's an inspiration.
Decided to let my hair start growing about a year ago. Actually, I haven't found the time to get it cut.
I'm just getting out of that dreaded phase and it's beginning to look 'long'. My hair is now just touching my shoulders on the side. It's a bit longer in the back. My goal is to let it grow a couple of inches beyond my shoulder blades.
I'm a professional in a conservative field, so I had a bit of anxiety about growing my hair (although several coworkers have long hair and my work is well-regarded by my organization). People have begun to accept that I like long hair.
I also ride a sport motorcycle, which is a bit atypical. Tried on my helmet tonight, and the hair can be seen several inches below it. Looking forward to the return of riding season, so I can experience the feel of my hair in the wind.
Again, thnaks for the inspiratio and keep it growing.

Be careful that the hair in the wind thing doesnt make it knotted.

Any suggestions on preventing knotting?

I'd recommend wearing your hair in a braid when you're in a situation like that where you're likely to get bad tangles. I've found that a braid makes a big difference when it comes to getting the tangles out later. You may end up with a few very minor tangles, but you can avoid major ones.
