Masculine accessories for men's long hair
Posted by T. Isilwath on December 09, 1997 at 10:39:36:
Hi all- While doing a web search for long hair accessories for men, an old thread about masculine hair accessories that was on this board came up. I see now that the posts on the subject have long since expired, but I was wondering if anyone here knew of any sites or companies where I could find clips and ornamental hair bands for my husband's hair. (He's got mid-back legnth black hair)
Please respond by private email if you have any suggestions. :))
Thanks

I'll reply this way since others may be interested too....
The Highlander Store has a few masculine hair ties - the ones
that longhair Duncan MacLeod wears in the show. This is supposedly
their web site, though I couldn't get it to load just now:

I just tried that site myself. It appears to be a broken link. My browser couldn't connect with the site's server.

Try one of thess phone numbers then. They are from a catalog I have:
1-800-215-7650 for US orders.
1-708-922-4082 for orders from other places.

It just occurred to me that you folks might want to SEE the hair ties. Unlike the web site, the phone numbers aren't much help in that way....

It looks like they moved the site. The new location is:

The specific page in question is:

I have a few links, which I'll post when I get some time, although probably not tonight. I also have ALL messages archived. I periodically put them out on my ftp site in the form of a ZIP file. If I remember, I'll refresh the file this weekend. Meanwhile, the one that's already there may contain the message you're looking for. Follow the link below, and download messages.zip.

In the latest Alien movie, one of the scientists wears an interesting sort of hair accessory. It looks slightly like a napkin ring but longer and narrower. I never got a good look at it. I'm curious if anyone else noticed this and if you know what it is. I suspect it was a custom made job for the set. Here is a picture that shows it, although not very well.

First off, I am Ralph Nelson, 1/2 of the 2 owners of KJ Craftworks, the people that own the site in question. As for mentioning men on the site... of course they are specifically mentioned! We sell about 200-300 pairs of hairsticks each year to men. Personally, I carry one set in my Leatherman Super Tool(tm) case. The style that works the best for me is the french twist (my hair is down to the middle of my shoulder blades, or 1/3 of the way down my back).
All of our sticks include instructions on how to do 5 different hair styles, though most men prefer either the "basic knot" or the "french twist" since they are: a) the simplest; and b) the most masculine.
Most of our male customers prefer the plain sticks or the paddle shaped sticks, though of the afformentioned 200-300 pairs, about 30-40 are beaded. Check us out!
p.s. Sorry for the significant delay in answering here... no one ever told me about the page, and I found it by shear chance today!
