How many of you have worked in both 'white color' and 'blue color' type environments and have experienced some harassment about your hair length?
what work environments were more tolerant, and which were least tolerant?

First of all, I am a woman with waist length hair. In a white collar position--bank teller--my hair length made no difference as long as it was neat and clean. There were no written rules about men's hair but there were no long hair males working there! In the blue collar position for safety sakes I was required by Union and Plant to wear my hair "contained". In a ponytail. Several men who work in this plant have long hair and they wear their hair in pulled back low ponytails secured by two or three holders placed down the length of hair. Another easy way to keep hair safe and out of machinery reach is the hair glove. This is a leather wrap that snaps around the hair. It comes in various colors and lengths. They are available at motorcycle shops. I love mine and gave one of my male friends a hair glove. He loves it. To reduce everything--white collar jobs like shorter hair. Blue collar jobs are more tolerant--with men and women!

I've yet to work in any environment that asked a Woman to cut her hair.
there may be some places that I'm unaware of, but even workplaces where Men are required to have military/regularion cuts, Women are permitted to have Long hair.
