My Response to Long Hair Reserves.

Long Hair Reserves is a website that says you're not a man if your "hair is longer than half an inch." What...the...crap.
I went to their message boards, saying my name was "G.I. Kick Your Ass" since that bigot kept thinking he was some bad boy soldier. My subject was "Busting Caps Like Mr. T in a Nursing Home." Here's what I wrote:
"In 2nd and 3rd centuries China, all men had long hair, and they were still able to slap enemy biznitches across the globe. During this period of war, one dude dragged two oxes by the tails 100 steps. Another guy killed 12 enemy attackers with another human being. One warrior, who is often portrayed as having VERY LONG hair saved a one-year-old from a mass of enemy soldiers, fighting for an estimated 16 HOURS - alone!
These guys all had long hair.
Now, you can't tell me if Arnold Schwarzneggar had long hair, he'd be some kinda wuss. The freakin' Rock wears long-haired extensions in the upcoming movie "The Scorpion King," and you can't say that man isn't buff (though I'm no fan of wrestling).
LOOK AT SAMPSON, boy!"
Here we go again . . . (NMI)

My Response to Long Hair Reserves is that the website should be called http://the-light.com/hair/wwwboard.html rather than http://the-light.com/mens/wwwboard.html because it talks about men's hair, as opposed to beards 'n moustaches. But I guess that it was called MEN'S, as opposed to women's long hair.
On the other hand, his response to the HairCUT Reserves is:

Let's face it, short hair is so unnatural that they need to make nonsensical rationales for continuing to wear it short. Nature has said it best: Men's hair grows two to three feet long because that is the length that was most successful in fighting off all the other males to mate with the females and so became incorporated in our genes.
But don't go off dissing the guys on the short-hair boards with all this because that may make them come over here to diss us, and the resulting commotion merely serves to waste Victor's valuable bandwidth! Let them live in their fantasies.

Nonsensical? I am defintiely against the guys at the short hair reserve sight mocking and belittling men who have long hair, so don't get me wrong. However, what you wrote about mens' hair growing two to three feet to fight off the other males to mate with the females makes no sense at all! Would you say the same thing about fingernails? If we let nature decide for us everything about our appearance, and cut nothing, wouldn't it make sense that we should have two foot long fingernails also?

Well, if fingernails are left uncut, they will naturally break off at a length depending on a person's activities. This would be at a rather short length for our ancesters working in the fields and forests.
Even in our modern society, it takes will power to maintain nails more than about 1/2 centimeter long. Hair, on the other hand, is not meant to be a tool but, rather, an adornment.

Hair also provides insulation and shade. When everyone lived outside, that was important.

That makes sense. However, since you say (and I believe) that hair is an adornment, it is completely up to the individual how he wants to "adorn" himself, be that long hair or no hair! It is a completely subjective decision. I don't see people here who say that buzzcuts and shaved heads are repulsive as much more (if any) different than those who say long hair on men is repulsive. I realize that some in the haircut reserves would make it mandatory for every man to have a short haircut, but they are in the minority of those of us who like short hair.

i realize this is kind of a debate that could go on and on, so i will not get to stressed over it, but i have some thoughts . . .
i have had the "natural" discussion with people before. and they have brought up fingernails. and also, doing nothing unnecessary would also lead you to never wash your hair or your body, or move or stimulate muscles. (well, alright, that is kind of a strech. oops.)
but anyway, in my opinion anyway, long hair is a natural thing. i dare say it is "different" than nails, washing, etc., because people naturally bite their nails or keep them short "automatically". like, i have really short nails, but i do not cut them. i guess i just bite them or whatever without thinking about it. and it is refreshing to wash your hair and body. but more so, if you do not wash, you start to itch and stink, and washing seems like a natural thing to do. like, animals will naturally keep themselves clean and take baths in water.
however, cutting off hair is something that seems like it would be hard to do with low technology, like, without scissors, which i realize is a weak arguement. but, it just seems like a drastic thing to cut hair from yourself. once again, i guess that is just opinion, and hair does not have nerves, unlike cutting your skin, but cutting off hair has always has just seemed like an ugly and harmful thing to do. . . to me, anyway.
also, i can totally relate to people with long hair and long beards as people more than i can people without, and not just because i am that way; it has always been that way, ever since i got past the tendencies of society to look down on those people that were ingrained in my head when i was really young. anyway, it is hard to explain. i do know people who do cut their hair (almost everyone i know) so i do not dislike them or anything, and they are still just as much normal as me(or us, maybe), but i just think it would be nice if they did not. i do think people should "go natural". :)
sorry for rambling. :)

Just ignore them, they have the mindset of a religious nut...it won't change because unreasonable people are free to use unreasonable explantions. We all know that it is unreasonable to lable males as females just because of a natural function of the body (growing hair) that the unreasonable person himself experiences.
If he hates hair so much he might think of electrolosis on his head or Nare or some other traditionally feminen form of hair removal to appear more feminin for a greater length of time. Is it only hair on the head that he is concerned with? If not, is it consistant with his thoughts on long hair?
Automatically lumping having long...er hair in with acting like a girl makes no sense and only shows ignorance about individualism, other cultures and history.
He doesn't even know that what constitutes the difference between men and women is chromosomes and their effects on development: testosterone in men and estrogen in women, penis and testicles in men and clitoris, vagina & uterus in women, nipples with no natural function in men and functional milk producing breasts in women. Hair preference is merely a cultural add-on that resembles clothing styles but clothing is in no way even related to the natural hair growth function that both human males and females experience.
The Taliban's cultural hair preference was for all men to have short hair and long beards...and for women to cover up so you couldn't even tell if they had hair or not. Think about that statement of cultural opinion and how it might relate to the "Hair Reserves" personal preferences. There are some practical concerns that lead modern armies to regulate hair length (not across the board though), one of the main reasons they shave your head in boot camp is to begin the process of removing your identity in order to break you down so you will learn to think and function only as part of a larger group. That helps in fighting wars with large armies where you don't want individuals making their own decisions apart from the chain of command. Is that his vision for the real world outside of the small world of military life?
It's interesting that some of the worst of harassment and belittling that some of us individuals have experienced in the real world has begun to follow us onto the net in a manner that copies our informational sites.

also, for the most part, men naturally have beards and women do not. that makes me wonder why they shave.
anyway . . . whatever

I went to that link out of curiousity and got this message:
"The web page you are trying to access doesn't exist on Yahoo! GeoCities.

apparently the site no longer exists.
what exactly was 'their agenda' anyway?
