Well, now what

Well, I just got my job at McDonalds and can put my hair up or cut it.
I have been thinking for over a week to cut it, pro's mostly
everoyne says I'd look weird-and I'd agree, hmm...I've gotten
almost 6 reports of looking like a girl-one while I was in a car; the other in class, we were joking and I put these glasses on, this guy said I reminded him of some swedish (sorry) "big" chic with the hair, so of course the whole class was laughing about it, doesn't help with the choice to cut or not; sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it
but with having little hair, I neither love nor hate it....its down to my chin now-although talking to a few people, some say to keep it, alot more say to cut it, I hate it-I have ot make a decision that will possably nullify the last 14 months of hair growth...

"some say to keep it, alot more say to cut it"
so, if more people say to cut it, and you really care, maybe this will make up for them:
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
keep it!
see, clearly the vote is in favor of keeping it. :)

I'd say put it up. Let it grow. Heck, you might like having your hair pulled up in a bun... So, keep it.

Be yourself, not what others think of you. Is your sign gemini.?
That is my sign, and a lot of times I too go back and forth with my hair, however, my true self wins out, and I keep my hair long. (See attached picture.) Most importantly, your hair took a significant amount of time to grow, and you truely feel inside yourself that you want your hair to be you as an individual. BE YOURSELF - KEEP YOUR HAIR - PLEASE DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR.

Dustin,
You don't say how old you are. If you're working at Mickey D's I'm guessing you're still a young guy. So this is big stuff. Who is Dustin in relation to Corporate America??
If you had to cut your hair to work there would you do it?
If some kid boss told you to cut your hair or he'd fire you would you do it?
Just how much are you willing to sell your body parts for?
Its time to decide who you are. You get to choose.
Next time someone makes a smart crack you can look them in the eye, hand them a cup of coffee and say, "How about a nice cup of Shut the F*ck Up."
Looking them in the eye and saying softly, but sincerely, "F*ck You." works well too.
If you choose to keep your hair long it gets better. The longer it gets the less you'll get hassled, because it'll look great and you'll be proud that you are living congruent with who you are inside.
And, I'll bet if you think about it, there are plenty of jobs where you could work for as little as Mickey D's and still be "allowed" to wear your hair how you want it.
Dustin, meet Dustin.....

: this guy said I reminded him of some swedish (sorry) "big" chic with the hair,
So the chick looks like you. That's her problem, not yours. If this other guy thinks of sexy women every time he looks at you and gets turned on, well, that's his problem. Just tell him you're not interested.
: so of course the whole class was laughing about it,
Ah, you missed a golden opportunity to embarrass this turkey . . . next time something like this happens in public (and this tactic works best when the target is with his buddies), just retort something to the effect, "Too bad I turn you on, pal." His buds will laugh at him, and you'll gain a few points for gumption.
: but with having little hair, I neither love nor hate it....its down to my chin now-although talking to a few people, some say to keep it, alot more say to cut it, I hate it-I have ot make a decision that will possably nullify the last 14 months of hair growth...
No point in surrendering to the opposition at this stage of the game . . . think of what might have happened if Winston Churchill had surrendered during the bombing of London, or if Washington had given up at the winter of Valley Forge? Wouldn't have what we have now. I'd encourage you to see this growing through to the end . . .

Tell your friends that if they were your true friends that they would not laugh at you. Tell them to get an education on the history of men with long hair. Start with Jesus, he had long hair, see if they laugh or make fun of him. Bye.

Going by what you say, at least McDonalds are not forcing you to cut your hair as a condition of working for them, so you don't have to make the hair-v-job decision often faced by male longhairs.
As for those others around you, eventually most of them will get used to your hair and get bored with the "girlie" jibes...they will find someone else to annoy. In the meantime, know it's hard, but try not to let them see that they are getting to you.
I think you should first try wearing your hair "up", at least for a while, and see how you go. If at the end of giving it a fair trial you still feel very uncomfortable, cutting will still be there as the zero option.
There is an old maxim that comes to mind when a longhairs thoughts turn to scissors....ACT IN HASTE, REPENT IN LEASURE!
PS. Good luck with the new job

Sounds to me like sexual discrimination has finally ended, (at least at that McDonalds). Pretty cool. Keep it up and keep it long!

The sooner you realize that doing what you want instead of being ridiculed into submission is the path of growth, maturity, and a good time, the better. Also, if you have to put your hair up, maybe you can do a ponytail from the top of your head. It's kinda reminiscent of the samurai from Saturday Night Live and it's so unabashed, no one will mess with you!
