Shampooing

When I shampoo, I can't get it to lather. I've tried using not much, and a lot of shampoo, and tried massaging my hair for a long time, and a short time. Nothing I've tried gets it to lather. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
hard water

have your water checked for mineral content. hard water will reduce the amount of lather you get out of shampoo , soap, or detergent.
no oil?

Lathering shampoo is too much shampoo-use less shampoo and more water. If u need more liquid-keep addin water, not shampoo. Too much shampoo will take oils out of your hair that your hair needs (otherwise it gets dried and damaged quicker...plus u get the frizzed out fly away hair look). Also, use cool water-not hot.
j.s. is right-you have hard water and that may lead to plumbing problems.
