styles for growing...

Hey whusup. I decided to grow my hair out a few months ago. A month or two ago, i got it trimmed (now i see that was a dumb idea). Now i have it parted in the middle, kinda medium length and shorter on the sides and back. I looks kind like the kids hair in this post: http://the-light.com/mens/messages/26910.html only just a little longer. I hate it soooo much, i look like a dork and i dont want to get it cut. Any tips for styles to make it look good while im growin it out?

OK, thanks. I was starting to get worried. I really, really want long hair though. I figure that if I let it grow until early September, I could get it trimmed pretty evenly all 'round. My bangs may be an inch shorter than the sides, though, kinda like in Tom Cruise's MI2. With my hair growing 3/4" a month, I'm hoping the sides and back will be lined up just below my earlobes. Am I right...or no?

What you do is simple. Wait it out. Yes, it'll turn up at the back and the front a bit, but careful combing will minimize that (thank the Gods) and eventually you can tuck the bangs behind the ears and tie the back...well, back. The resulting tail isn't that long, but if you wear hooded sweaters, a trenchcoat, or something with a collar, it's a Godsend (trust me on the trenchcoat and hooded sweater!). Time is the key, and patience. It also helps if you can ignore the nasty comments people will throw at you. Or at least come up with some fun retorts! If some jerkwad tells you you 'look like a girl', tell him togo over to the girl with short hair and tell her she looks like a boy. If they say it makes you look 'gay' (and from what I understand, very few gay guys have long hair) ask them if that means they're attracted to you, or something...I dunno. I've never really had any insults about the hair...people yell 'mullet!' at me, yes, but of course they know I'm half Newfoundlander and it COULD be a fish joke.
