Intresting Dilemma

Hi.
I've been growing my hair for about 9 months.
There is a progress in length but the hair on the sides curls up all the time and so does the end of the hair in the back which make it looks kinda silly.
What I do like is the hair on the top of my head-it's straight unlike the rest of my hair and at my current length I can part in the middle and make it look nice.
I've been thinking lately about keeping the hair on the top and cutting(not buzz cut just about 2") the rest of it-that way preserving the "not short not long" look and without having to control the rest of the hair.
What do u think?Any1 did it?

Don't cut it.
I'm like at 12 months or so, mine curls also. Once it gets longer it will stop doing that, just hold out for a few months, don't cut it :-)
