Undercut at the back

Hi people. Does anyone out there have an undercut, especially just at the back? My hair tends to get quite thick there and as I am am trying to get all my hair at the back to the same length, the bottom of the back sticks out sometimes.
Does anyone think getting an undercut at the back, say about an inch under and let the hair layer over that bit is a good idea??? Has anyone else found that this makes hair more manageable at the back?
Thanks for any help.
P.S. Does anyone know how a hairdresser actually undercuts hair? What is the method they use? Thanks again.

I have an inch undercut all round, and it makes the hair hang really good over it. I hesitated on this topic too much and should of got it done before I had, last week as I love it.
Dont get a severe one, as they look terrible, but an inch from the hairline is nice as it gets rid of all the thick, dry hair and leave sthe long healthy hair over it.
What they do to cut it lift the hair so the hair line is revealed, and shave it with clippers around the hairline. I got a number 2 shave and its great.
Maintenence is about once a month for a reshave.
Go for it man.

So, InUtero, man you become a defender of undercuts too! Undercuts
may not work for everybody but it sure does for me and maybe for my
friend InUtero! As you say, just don't cut it too severe and it works well.

try it! i have one and i think it tidies things up and makes things look neat and orderly. i agree with inutero...the severe ones can look less than desireable....but an inch at the back only, should look great!.
good luck!
