Any tip for preventing loss of hair?

Note that I am not balding or thinning at all. This winter, my hair was starting to get long (near shoulders) and I was scared because I would always find a ton of hair everywhere. At first, I tought I was thinning, but later I found out it was normal to lose hair. When they become longer, they are a lot more visible, thus giving the impression of losing more of them.
Now, my hair is 4 centimeters now and I want to begin take care of them right now. Are there any tips to not break them? All I know is that when I wash them with shampoo, I do it gently. Also, I just use the towel a little in my hair to dry them. Should I use a comb with larger spaces between teeths? Also do you have any other tips?

Don't use a comb, use a brush, with the softest bristles which actually have some effect, and only brush just enough to make your hair tidy.
basically, use the least amount of 'violence' towards your hair that will make it look OK.
