Some thoughts and perceptions.

Just some thoughts about changing perceptions. While lots of men had long hair in the early to mid 70's, relatively few (in UK at least) wore ponytails. Now lots do, and some have plaits. But if a man wore his hair with 2 ponytails like girls do that would still be seen as decidedly odd! Likewise if he wore it in a bun or topknot, except in the case of a sumo wrestler. And who'd argue with a sumo wrestler anyway!
Cheers!

I guess there are some bounderies that are risky to cross, but then again, that has happened all down through history, right?

I just wanted to point out that in the (fantastic) movie "Lord Of The Rings", almost everyone has long hair! There are some really cool looking (mens) hairstyles in this movie. Too bad more people don't have these styles. One can hope for the future.

I've noticed since that movie, (which by the way, was a great inspiration for my long hair decision) that there are more and more men going with longer hair.
The "shaved head and crewcut" look is slowly going out of style in the bigger cities and if you look at most advertising lately, longer hair seems to be the rule instead of the exception. I looked at a Details magazine the other day and EVERY SINGLE page of ads for mens fashion had a man with longer than normal hair. Perhaps a silent revolution is taking place. Or, more probably, it's just the typical backlash against the current-yet-fading short style that the stylemakers (hairdressers, fashion designers, photographers) are yet again co-opting in an effort to look "new" and "fresh". Who knows where this "trend" thing starts?
Either way, it's kind of nice to see EVERY style out there and more acceptance for individuality rather than rejection for not being the typical "me too" clone. Of course, if we all decide to have long hair, then I wonder what my position will be on the clone thing...hmmmm....

Actually I think one of the biggest reasons that I choose to have long hair, is the fact that it is different, and that long hair in guys is not as common. I hope that in the future it becomes more acceptable, but that there is still a balance between longhairs and short.
