Itchy Scalp

I have long hair down to my shoulders. I wear it in a pony tail for work. I have noticed that I get a really itchy scalp in the area where the pony tail is. Does anyone suffer this ailment? Is it caused by the head becoming too hot? I use a dandruff shampoo one or twice a week and normal shampoo every other day. Am I doing something wrong?

Maybe your tying the tail too tight-try grabbing hold of the hair clump near your scalp (right after u tie it up) and pull the ponytail band away from your scalp a couple centimeters.

Any scalp itch may be due to a fungal infection (really!). The only shampoo that really attacks dandruff and itchy scalp is Nizoral. Non-prescription strength is 1%; 2% available by prescription only.
It really works; a few applications may be all you need.

I have the same problem. You have to learn to keep your fingers out of your hair, although the itching can become unbearable. Shampoos and ointments with tar in them are excellent choices for discouraging this. You have to monitor your choice of hair treatments very carefully. Look more for natural products. Spray, for me, can set off the itching. Good luck!
