your vote counts!

Hi,
Wondering if we could have a vote on chemical straightening.
To encourage a wide response poll just reply 'yes' for 'go for it', 'no' for 'bad move dude' or 'Don't know' for 'I’m in the same dilemma as you man'.
I’ll make my decision after a week of replies.
Greater than 50% and I’ll do it.
thanx dudes, your opinion is appreciated.
P.S. please vote yes, no or don’t no – I really need definite answers!!
I thank you

YES I for one know exactly how you feel. My hair is wavy and flips all otu at wierd angles and i don't like it. I want nice long steight hair like that one guy that posted a pic of his 1.5 year progress. that is EXACTLY what i want. anyway there are all kinds of perms used to streighten now that actually deep condition your hair and have it come out in better shape than it was before and streigt too! I was shaved for a while and am right now just at like 2 inches :( but when i get to about 7 inches i am going to steighten mine for sure with a NON LYE product. just stay away from lye!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! i know u just want a yes/no answer but I must say this: I had about 10 months worth of growth but was putting alot of chemicals in my hair including a relaxing and my hair ended up SO fried that I had to start over (nothing could fix it) now I'm at 8 months (I would have 18 right now!!!!) and i've learned my lesson.
It Depends

If you're referring to the kind of relaxing where they put perm solution in your hair but instead of curling it they comb it straight, then I'd say go for it. I had this done a few months ago, and it turned out really well. My hair wasn't fried or anything. However, if you're talking about harsher things like the sodium hydroxide relaxer or something, then I would say no. That stuff seems like it can really mess up your hair.

Regular salon relaxers, it depends, try rusk or paul mitchell. the brand is important.
If you can afford it go for bio ionic its like 250 dollars but its worth it. I'm going to get it myself when I grow out last week's stupid trim I had after 1 year.

My suggestion...
Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and ask for the gentle relaxer made for kids.
Anything else will likely be too harsh.
I know of people who used the perm stuff as a relaxer and it was a nightmare.
We all have different hair, and each of us will have different reactions to things. Impossible to say what will happen to you. One person's bad experience could be your good one and vise-versa.
Just be careful.

I absolutely HATED my wavy hair but after I got used to it and it grew out more, I am so glad that it doesnt just lay there and do nothing.
