Growth rate the same for all hairs?

I have been growing my hair out for about 8 months from a buzz cut and there are several inconsistancies in length in different areas with no explanation considering i've had ZERO trims along the way. The most noticeable being a difference in 'bulk' of hair on the area above the ear. If I grab the hair on both sides there is a definite difference of volume (more on the left than on the right causing the left side to flip out more)There are no visual length differences, just the thickness really. But, again the same problem with the hair in the lower back that you can see from the front. The hair on the right always sticks out longer from the neck then on the left, no matter how much I try to push it outwards or whatever. Part of it seems to be because the left side curls in and the right side curls out. Is all this normal for growing the hair out the first time to a certain length and turning out uneven? If it is then what is the reason? Does each strand of hair have a slightly different rate of growth? or is it just unsymetrical charactieristics in the wavyness in different areas?

I have the adsact same problem to the tee. That is just pretty much how it is. Hair is unsymetrical in growth, but when it gets out of the awkward stage and starts to get longer, you will pretty soon not notice this at all. My hair is getting long enough now that I don't notice it. GOOD LUCK and KEEP GROWING!!!!!
Same problem here..

I think it might have something to do with the fact that I sleep with the side of my head on the pillow, with the other side not. The hair on my sleep side kind of seems to follow the contour of my ear.
Maybe I should start sleeping on my back.
