Hair can RoT...

Well a hair stylist told me if you leave your hair in braids all the
time without proper care and UNbraiding from time to time it can
rot and break down.
I wonder how often a person should UNbraid the hair. Probably daily?

Why would someone want to always wear their hair braided? If the braids are small and tight enough to not get tangled up after a day or two and you leave them in for long periods of time then they will damage the hair. Otherwise you need to let it down and redo it every day or two (depending on your activities) for the best care. I prefer to always wear it down, seems more like long hair that way. I hear stories from people who once had really long hair and they say that one day they cut it all off because they couldn't take the headaches anymore. Well, they got headaches because they always wore it back in a big braid. If you put it all together it will be heavier on some of the hairs on your scalp that end up holding all the weight and then you get an aching head from your sore scalp. If you just let it fly free then the only weight you have on each hair is the weight of that hair itself (almost nothing, even when really long).

Yes, that's true. How about a ponytail then?
