Minus the shampoo?

Hi, I have really dry hair and it only starts feeling soft or silky 3-4 days after shampooing, but i rarely dont shampoo this long. Some ppl have said that they shampoo only once in a week or two but im afraid my hair will just get filthy or scruffy looking after such a long time of not washing. Would substituting conditioner for shampoo for the two weeks help to keep my hair clean and does conditioner also strip hair of its natural oils?
