How to get this style?

Does it look like it is all the same length?(I.E. grown from buzzed/shaved) or was it probably undercut or trimmed into the style? I'm thinking it might work for my hair as it is thick & straight, very slightly waved.

There is no way of telling what style he used to have. This is a TV star and I kniow he has a trim every few weeks, He has been regrowing his hair after cutting it short and his is a bit longer in the back just like most are. Letting it grow, and NO under cut,,, thats what the look is. Keeping the ends trimmed is what keeps it healthy looking. If you look at the pics most guys post on here you can see the lack of care and the shape is all uneven. All hair should be kept styled. You CAN grow your hair long and keep it good Don't expect to just let it grow and have it look like that. He has a stylist work on his hair every day. I also notice that everyone thinks cutting does not help your hair grow. Talk to most GOOD stylists and you will get a different answer. I does promote growth, keeps it looking well kept and healthy.

Cutting (trimming) only promotes growth per say in the fact that it will get rid of split (damaged) ends that can potentially break off. This is if there is any split ends. Most hair if taken care of and handled gently will most likely not have any split ends, so trimming is not needed and only makes hair a quarter to a half an inch shorter. So, as far as I am concerned here, this does not promote growth at all. There are many seasoned veterans of long hair on this board that have hair to their belts who say trimming is not needed if hair is taken care of properly. KEEP IT LONG!!!

I didn't tell him to cut it off, just take care of it and keep it in good health. He asked how to get it to look like the picture, Why are you all so paranoid about a trim,,,,,? and EVERYONES hair grows at a different speed so if you trim it once in awhile you won't look like you just crawled out if the woods.I see so many with hair thats all different lengths and know it would look nicer evened up.
But each to his own

As I posted some time back in another thread, I manage some actors (Barry Watson - the guy in the picture - isn't one of them). Barry's hair in this picture is about as long as I would let one of my clients grow his hair. Usually they have to cut it back long before getting this long.
You're right about the frequent cuts, usually every 2-3 weeks. Not much taken off (it keeps getting longer), but it needs to be kept shaped properly. They also shampoo / condition it *AT LEAST* every other day using *GOOD* products. Their hair always looks neat and shiny. I've never had one display what everyone here calls the "awkward stage". You don't have to go through it. And yes, "hair and makeup" is part of his routine every day he's shooting.
