silicones?

I've purchased conditioners and serums with silicone in them.
They seemed to work fine at first but now my hair seems to
be getting lifeless, etc.
Anybody have opinions on this stuff?

As one who works in the silicone industry, I can tell you that silicone is about as inert a substance as you will come into contact with (that is, it can't actually HARM your hair). It could, however, remain in your hair as a build up, and this might explain the lifelessness. Silicone isn't water soluble, and most soaps won't take it off easily. I have to use DOW detergent and a scrub pad to get silicone rubber off my hands.
If I were you, I would try a clarifying shampoo and see if it doesn't clear up the buildup (if this is, in fact, the problem). Either way it will clean buildup from other products out of your hair. If you do use a clarifying shampoo, though, don't do it more than once a week, or once every two weeks, or it will dry your hair out bad.

Thanks, Rev! Great advice...

That must be what it is...a build up. Will use a clarifying shampoo
as suggested and then be a bit more careful of what I put into my hair.
Also, glad to learn that silicone is safe! Thanks
