Lord of the Rings Movie and Long Hair

Anyone wanted to grow you hair out or appreciate that your hair is long (for those of you who already had long hair when the movie was out) after watching this movie? I was right smack in the middle of my awkward stage when I watched this movie. It really gave me motivation to grow my hair out and stick to my goal.
I read some of the message boards at the Lord of the Rings site back in December; some women were making their boyfriends and husbands grow their hair out after watching this movie :).

Yea. Although i'd started growing mine a little before the movie came out, it was a big inspiration to stick with it and keep growing having seen how the end results could look.
Orlando Bloom (legolas) looks very young with a buzz cut. A good ad for growing your hair, makes him look much older and more distuiguished. like an elf is supposed to be i guess :)

it is cool that you were inspired to stick with your growing thru the awkward stages... but i'm not sure i like that wives & g/f's are 'making' their s/o's grow out their hair as that is as much a breach of dignity as making them cut in my opinion. it would be refreshing that viewing the movie might open up some minds to the idea that long hair can look good on some guys.

I like those movies too. The thing about fantasy movies is that it looks cool and then people want to grow their hair but after awhile they realize that they are in the real world and they bag the idea. I would appreciate a movie that has characters (even women) with long hair (especially really long hair) in more "normal" circumstances and roles that people can relate to. Not too many of us are elves on a quest for a ring of power (I know, someone will say that they are one). I'm also not talking about movies like the Crow where the arch bad guy has very long hair or the umpteen other films that have longhairs only as drug addicts and violent criminals. I'm sure that if you surveyed criminals in the real world you would find more short hair and buzzcuts.

I started growing my hair long before the movie, but it did reinforce my interest in my long hair. However, it also got me more interested in pipe smoking, so go figure. The trappings of imagination and fantasy are just too attractive to me. In fact, I try to deal with reality only as much as I have to.
