Can Prozac slow down growth rate?

Does anyone know if anti depressant drugs like prozac can slow down hair growth? I have been growing out a standard clipper cut for about as long as i've been on prozac (over a year) and I only have about 4 and a half inches. Not even into the eyes yet. It feels healthy and all, just not very long. I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with growing hair while on antidepressants as hair related problems are not listed in general side effects. Who knows, maybe its just genetics, i've never grown my hair out before so I dont have anything to compare it to.

Are you sure the hair is not 6 inches?
If it's curly it might LOOK only 4 and a half inches.
My brother was on Prozac...then again, he always keeps his
hair extremely short so i have no idea.

It is 4.5 inches when pulled straight along a tape measure or ruler.

The average hair growth is a half inch a month. Over a year you should have Six inches of average growth. Maybe you could be off on the time period. I myself am very terrible at keeping accurate track of time. Four and a half inches is Nine months average growth. Maybe it's only been that. Give it some thought. Ask a few buddies or family members if they would have any idea how long it's been since you last cut your hair. GOOD LUCK and KEEP IT GROWIN'.

Well I for one did try prozac for one day for anxiety but it made me fee lsick so I never took it again. But my hair doesn't seem to grow all that quick either. Even without prozac. Maybe it is the stress of dealing with the deprression or anxiety. I know it is VERY stressful I have actually found grey hairs and I am only 24. Also I do not know that much about depression but if it IS anxiety you are dealing with it has been found that people that are in a stressed state often due to chronic anxiety do not get all the nutrients from the things they eat. So it could be you are not getting the vitamines from fish and meats that most people just absorb with ease. Anyway Let me know how it goes and well just think the longer it takes the greater the reward. You will probably appriciate your long hair more than most! I myself am like 5 or 6 months from a buzz myself and my hair BARELY hangs down my forhead :P nowhere near my eyes at all. KEEP IT GOWING! :)

I've never had a problem and I've been taking it for 4 years.
