Bed Head
Posted by FITMUS on August 09, 2002 at 12:33:39: Previous Next
Hello all,
When my hair is long and I took a shower the night before (which I prefer to do), my hair was a mess the next day...especiallys since I have a wave in my hair. Then, if I tried to brush it that morning, it got really poofy and unruly. Therefore, I used to take showers in the morning to avoid the "bed head" look, and the poofiness after trying to brush it in the morning. Do any of you have similar issues with the "bed head" look where brushing the next morning isn't useful? Is there any way to deal with this issue without having to take morning showers as the solution?

The only way I find to control this problem on days that I don't just simply put on a hat, which I mostly do, is to stand by the tub and turn on the shower and stick my head under the water and soak it down. Then I let it air dry. Otherwise it is a hopeless battle for me. Good Luck and Keep It Long!

...LOL, you should see me in the morning sometimes...OMG!
Anyway, I agree that an A.M. shower will definitely take care of that problem...OR...
...at the very least, wet your head in the morning and style it.

Same story here. I have curly hair, and the only way to minimize frizz and allow my hair strands to align themselves into the awesome curls I get, is to comb it WET, so the strands stick together as they dry. Once my hair dries, if I comb it and separate the strands, I end up with frizz.
When I get up in the morning my hair looks like I slept in it, and well, I did! So I've got to soak it in the morning to get it looking its best.

The hair looks great! Yeah, seems like our hair can't be brushed once it's dry. By the way, where were you in those pictures? The scenery looks great!

I sort of like that WIDE look myself! It's not very often that you see hair that extends shoulder-to-shoulder completely!

Here's what I do.
After shampooing and conditioning, I deep condition. I then put in some leave in conditioner. I use stuff called "Breakthru". Works great for me.
Them I brush all my hair back into a tail and put in about two dozen (your hair may be shorter and not need as many) ponytailers in and have may tail completely banded together.
Next morning I gte up, let the tailers out, and brush. If neccesary, I use my hair iron and straighten out any spots that need it.
Sure beats the tangled, wavy, curly, frizzy mess I have if I don't do this!

It takes about 4 hours for my hair to dry completely. So, the morning soaking is not really an option for me. I find, that if I put it up in a bun on top of my head for sleeping, (which is very comfortable for sleeping) that totally cures the bed head problem and eliminates morning tangles too. In the morning I just take it out of the bun and brush it out and viola! it looks great. If it looks too wild, then I just brush it back into either a full or half tail. If I'm looking for a sleek look, then I just run my wet hands over the surface to tame it.

That's sounds like a good idea. I can't recollect what a bun looks like. Would you be able to post a picture of your hair up in the bun so I can see what you mean? Thanks!

Sorry Fitmus, Call me paranoid, but I don't post pictures of myself on the internet. Just take a look at the ladies around you when you are out. You'll see plenty of buns at this time of year.
