As some of you know, I had a job interview Friday. At this time, it had been a while since I last washed my hair, and it looked kind of ratty. Of course, I had to do something with it to make it look good for the interview. So what I did is this: when I washed it, I didn't shampoo (although it had been a few days); I decided to see how just conditioner + natural oil would work out. So I tried it...
It worked GREAT. Before I did this, my hair felt kind of dry and rough, like it was damaged. So I did the 'just conditioner' trick, and my hair lays down and is smooth; it feels really healthy, and looks really healthy. It even survived the 'sleep test'. I woke up this morning, and my hair took a minimal amount of effort to get to look nice. There was no struggling with tangles, no having to incessantly wet my hair just to be able to comb it, nothing. I just combed it a little, and that was it. Back to looking and feeling good.
And as for the job interview itself... it went great! The woman didn't say anything about hair, nor even notice mine (for which I was thankful). I wasn't about to ask about hair length policy; I figure that if it's an issue, it's her place to say something. Being that she was thorough with her interview but said not a word about hair, I don't think I'll ever get hassled for it -- at least, not from the people in charge. And my hair's still awkward stage -- it's long enough to move and get in my eyes and over my nose, but not long enough for me to tuck it back behind my ears. And the back tends to want to flip out (although my 'conditioner/scalp oil' trick seems to have all but remedied that). So even with otherwise hard-to-keep-looking-nice hair, she still didn't say anything. =D
Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know... Keep it long (or, keep growing if it's not yet long =]).

Good news. Glad to hear your hair was not an issue during that
job interview.
That's the way it SHOULD be, right? As long as your work performance
is fine, why shouldn't everything else NOT matter?

Good going! Now prove to them that hiring a longhair was the best thing that they ever could have done!
