iam starting to grow my hair long,or at least to my ears.someone had told me to cut the sides and the back short, and just keep the top growing.then after awhile it will even out.does that sound like a good idea? has anyone tried that before?give me some suggestions on how to grow it right.thanks

Hi John,
The first time I wanted to grow to all one length I did what you described. However, I didn't personally like the way it looked on me until it was long. I cut it in 1998 and I just decided to regrow to all one length. This time I'm going to just let it all grow out, and then do the evening-out after my hair gets to my desired length.
I think your answer lies in the type of look you'd like to have during your growing phase. I happened to try the "one length" look before and didn't like it. It was also back when the mullet was enemy #1! This time, I'd like to see how it looks as my hair grows out, even when it gets to a mullet!
I think it comes down to: personal preference during your growing phase and nothing more, taking into account your hair texture (your hair may look better & be more manageable with the "one length" approach vs. the "let it go" approach, or vice-versa).
Hope that helps!
