Tonight, I had my first recognition from another person that my hair is "too long". Granted, it was my mom, but that's beside the point. I've told her that I want to grow my hair out, and I don't think she believes that I'll stick with it. I've tried before, but my hair's never gotten longer than about 3 or 4 inches, because she'd convinced me that it would only continue to poof up. (Really curly and thick) And tonight after I got out of the shower, she told me that if I wanted her to schedule me a hair cut, I should let her know. I just kinda gave her one of those "that's funny" smiles. It's great. This is about the longest my hair's ever been, and that's the closest she's come to supporting me. (Instead of "You need to schedule a haircut.")
Anyways, I kinda have a question. I've been looking around this board for a while, and I've seen all sorts of tips on how to take care of hair, and what will damage it. I've also seen a lot of people talking about growing their hair out, and then having to cut it, because it was in such bad condition. I really don't want to have to do that. So basically, I want to know if there's a website that lays out some good guidelines for growing hair. And would anyone be able to post a list of things that can damage hair? It seems like there are a lot. What are some of the worst things you can do? (Like heat and chemicals) Any help will be greatly appreciated, and thank you so much for this board. I honestly don't believe I would be sticking with it even this far if it weren't for everyone here.
